Angela was living in a home in Oregon when a tree hit her house. She went and stayed with a friend in his Westfalia van and suddenly it hit her — she could chase the sun and avoid the seasonal depression that came with living in the Northwest by living in a van herself.

She ended up buying and renovating a 1982 Holiday Rambler, keeping some select “time warp” parts including the shag carpeting on the cab walls! In order to feel safe, Angela purchased a taser and has two pepper spray key chains. Enjoy her tour below.

  1. I love these older motor homes and how people recondition them and keep them in use. Nice and spacious inside and ready to hit the road at a moments notice. I’ve been to a few auto salvage yards and cringe when I see older motor homes and trailers in bad shape and abandoned to the weather and elements. What a waste. Repurposing can be a rebuild for the road, a camper on some remote land, a deer camp, a play house for the kids, a man cave, a she shed, an amateur radio field day trailer, a remote office, a guest house, let your imagination run wild. Saddest thing I saw was a 32 foot Air Stream that was perfect on the outside and looked like a tornado went through it. Everything inside destroyed. I should have bought the thing and moved it to the farm and made it a get away. Someone finally did buy it, I hope it has been restored.
