The Price Family is an adorable family of three who travels the country with their DIY skoolie and their dog. Despite having no previous building experience, Megan and Landon did a fantastic job creating a functional and happy tiny house.

Before leaving Texas to travel, the couple had a wedding photography/videography business, which they still run during wedding season. Enjoy our interview with this awesome family, and check out their cool conversion below.

Their Luxury DIY Skoolie: Built in 1.5 Years

We got into tiny living out of a desire for freedom, freedom from time and money restraints.

We wanted to travel the world chasing meaning in everyday life, and we’re on a mission to meet people all over the country sharing the light of the Lord.

We built our tiny home on wheels.

We had owned the bus for 3 years before moving into, but we technically only spent 1.5 years converting it.

We did the demoing, roof raise and the exterior of the bus and then took a year-long break before converting and building out the interior of the bus.

We previously did not have any experience prior to buying the bus and were so excited to learn all the things throughout the journey of the build.

For our family, tiny living has taught us to treasure more memories over things, that less can be more, and freedom from the typical 9-5 is one of the most freeing decisions we have ever made in our lives.

The only hard part is that it is so hard to see an end in sight for travel, and our families are constantly missing us and wondering when we will be back “home” for the next visit.

For work, we have run a wedding photography and videography business for the past 6.5 years.

We’ve also dove a little deeper into the social media, product photography, paid partnerships and digital marketing side of online income.

This allows us a bit more freedom to travel throughout the year because most of our weddings were taking place in the Texas area back “home” where we had originally started and built our photography business.

The hardest part about tiny living is missing friends and family back “home” yet still having the never ending desire to chase your dreams and travel the world.

And of course the unreliability of breakdowns in our school bus are also difficult.

The most rewarding part of the nomadic lifestyle is definitely the community and the freedom.

There is so much more family time, breathtaking views of God’s creation, and so much room for opportunity and flexibility because we are not tied to one specific location.

You can always “crank up” and move and have the entire comfort of your home with you wherever you go.

If you’re thinking of going tiny, just do it. Don’t weigh all the “what if this and that goes wrong”, because “what if it doesn’t go wrong” and you make one decision that changes your life forever, for the better and brings you so much more freedom than you could have ever imagined.

The reward is far more than the risk.

  1. This is lovely! I love all the white board ceiling and walls . I love the brick accents, too. It’s all really nicely done. Very homey and cozy.
