‘Big Tiny’ Scandinavian Solar Cabin

This one-of-a-kind solar-powered vacation cabin sits in the Quebec mountains, secluded from neighbors with absolutely gorgeous views! Called “Le Lagöm,” it’s supposed to encapsulate the Swedish idea of “living life with less.” The huge glass tower surrounds the living room and lets the loft bedroom lookout on the snow-capped evergreens.

If you come during the warmer months, there’s a large deck and patio area where you can eat dinner or sit by the fire. Again, the views are to die for! Check it out below.

Absolutely gorgeous! I’m guessing those windows are triple-paned, otherwise you’d freeze with all those windows. (Obviously, I’m a Southerner. LOL.)

Haha I’m sure they are high quality windows! At least, I hope so!

Double pane, look at the 4th and 5th photo down, you can see the number of grooves the glass sits in for the windows and door. Though, insulating gas filled double pane windows can still achieve up to an R-6…

However, it’s well heated with the gas (faux wood) stove and there’s an emergency heater for the bathroom too to keep it from getting too cold. While the only temperature complaint on the AirBNB reviews seems to be for too much heat.

One complaint was in summer, stating you needed a fan to place by the screen door and another was that it can get hot in the upper level while running the heaters… There might also be an issue with sound dampening as the summer complaint also indicated it was hard to sleep with the noise of a windy and fairly severe rain storm but seems to be the only indication of that issue, with most reviewers having a satisfactory experience, albeit the roads to get there aren’t for everyone… Also, the emergency heater for the bathroom is fairly loud when running…

Nice!! Finally someone has understood the Scandinavian style.

Though I am slightly concerned about the carpet close to the fireplace – and no glass plate underneath the fireplace.

And I find the staircase too steep for my liking. Then better with one you can be pulled out to get a more natural staircase with ease of climbing.

It’s a gas fireplace, many of them can function more like a furnace and direct heat. Some can even be zero clearance…

It’s funny I’m partial to traditional designs but I really loved this one!
