This is the pinnacle of “smart” tiny home prefabricated construction! While the iOhouse has a hefty price tag, it’s still a super cool concept: This home is 100% off grid while being fully self-contained — and everything from the furniture to the heat to the lights can be controlled from your smartphone.
Coming in at about 645 square feet, it features with two fold-out porches, a mechanical room, spacious living area, downstairs master bedroom, and a kitchen and bathroom. The home is solar-powered, and created without any synthetic materials! Just wood, wool, glass and metal — pretty neat! You will need to get the waste removed and water refilled about every two weeks (with two person occupancy), but apparently that’s easily done in European countries.

It’s a beautiful house! But….too expensive.
I would agree! But at one point in time cell phones were too expensive too — hopefully technology catches up and we can get something like this at an affordable price! Maybe…
The price of this home makes absolutely no sense, I could never justify this kind of money for just that.
A toy for millionaires perhaps
So many alternative possibilities at a fraction of the cost, i.e. drive a luxury motorhome onto the property, “plug it in” to your ‘mechanical room’.
It’s anything but comfortable–a rabbit warren.
Oh yes, it fits on the back of a truck (although it appears to be over-height). And when you get to your wilderness dream spot, how do you get it off? Did you notice the crane following at a cost of $15,000 per day?
I fail to see one redeeming feature of this poorly thought-out dream.
Uh, luxury motor homes run up to over $3 million and typically start around $500K for anything high end custom… So there’s a lot more to that range that can easily go well beyond the cost of this home… Not everyone defines luxury at the same price range…
While most construction cranes can be rented for $100 to $1,000 per day, $1,000 to $3,000 per week or up to $6,000+ per month. The prices may go down or up, depending on the type of crane and the rental company… $15K would be for something you can use to help build a large multi-story building but just getting this on and off a truck bed requires a lot less…
Getting them to remote areas can be difficult but there are many who do it regularly to build off-grid properties, work in the lumber industry, etc. and isn’t that hard as long as there’s a road at least near the property…
Sure, cheaper options galore but there’s always trade offs and depends what someone actually wants to have and what they’re willing to do to get it… There’s people who will sell their house and cash in on their life savings to be able to retire and live life to the fullest and people who are willing to deal even with a second mortgage so they can enjoy life before they retire. Among other examples…
So it all depends on the specific dream… This isn’t yours obviously but for people it is then it’s at least an option and we all need options, it just doesn’t have to be the same for everyone…
While it’s true, motorhomes can go stratospheric, a motorhome with this amount of luxury/convenience could be had for $100,000, complete with washer/dryer and generator. Both systems need external water and sewer.
A ‘construction’ crane will not lift this off the truck. You would need a mobile, hydraulic crane. With a bit of though, however, a clever way of transport and setting up is possible.
Uh, no, for $100K you wouldn’t have anything equivalent to this that’s new for a motor home… You might find something that has depreciated to that range but not new. Motor homes of this level of luxury/convenience starts at $500K on up…
Architectural details, this is designed by architects for the intent of making it feel like living in a work of art, and the details like the retractable decks, the walls of glass for the terraces, faceted exterior, etc. wouldn’t even be an option at $100K for a motor home… A motor home would also require a lot more maintenance and wouldn’t be intended to last as long as this home, which would actually make it cost quite a bit more in long term costs…
Not to mention some significant differences in actual usage… On one end, the motor home has the clear advantage for mobility but on the other this is a structure that can actually meet the permitting, etc. requirements to get it approved by the local municipality and is part of the service the company can provide, offering the architectural drawings, etc. and allow it to be used for full time living in a permanent location…
Though, they are a European company, so that last part may not apply to the states, but there’s obviously significantly more to this than it may appear at first glance and thus you have to be careful what you’re comparing it to…

They’re all construction cranes because they’re all used in the construction industry…
Besides, a 30 ton 161′ rough terrain crane should be more than enough to handle a 19 ton home unit… You could even buy one for around $32K and then sell it for around the same amount as another alternative to renting, which can work if you need it for a long period and intend on multiple moves in relatively short periods… A tactic often used by landscapers and other small business that need to use construction equipment…
Some now large businesses started out that way… Getting what they could afford, make a living off it, then sell it and use profits to upgrade… Step and repeat as the company grows… and I’ve seen some homesteaders and home owners building their own home use that tactic too…
So, even if you have high price gouging rental costs in your area, there are ways around it…
A bit swish. Got just about everything that opens and shuts except .. an oven of any sort it seems. Is that an optional extra?

I am curious as to why there is a hallway – looks like wasted space – other than to create balance with the kitchen. Things not being balanced would drive me crazy. So what is the purpose of that empty space? at the expense of a larger bathroom and/or kitchen.
What would be the logistics of trucking something that is 5 mtrs wide?
The only real issue I have is the reflectiveness of the glass. On a block in the wilderness/nature I would be concerned that birds are going to fly into it and break their necks – stayed in a house in the past where seemingly every other day I was picking up a dead bird that had hit the glass. I guess there are options on that too if you have the money.
As to cost, where I live that would barely get you a small apartment that needs some TLC. No comparison really.
It does look good though and coming complete, nothing to do but hang up your coat and you’re in. You could almost say ‘it fell off the back of a truck’
Hallway is separation for the bathroom and to keep it out of direct view of the living space… While also allowing the terrace to be a bit wider and more usable…
I also thought the hallway might not be the best choice, but I imagine they had some reason for it. And it sounds like they deliver the home for you, so they would handle those logistics.
I think we can all admit that this is a gorgeous home. Very space age looking though one could give it whatever look one wanted. I think the floor plan can be used to inspire creative ideas of our own, too. I would like to see an effort to get rid of the hallway that leads to the bathroom so both the bathroom and kitchen can be made larger. It’s hard to tell what the two small rooms at the very back are but I’m sure access could be done more creatively. And finally…HOLY MOLY! That price tag is staggering! Guess I’ll admire from a distance…a long distance! Did they install solid gold faucets or something? Surely that is a mistake. No? Wow.
Things like solid gold would actually make it go a lot higher… For example, the Falcon Supernova iPhone 6 Pink Diamond, is worth a whopping $48.5 Million… The actual upper limit of how expensive anything can get is way higher than anything ever shown on this site… Besides, it’s hardly a normal house… Terrace has fold down decks that help protect the glass while it’s being transported, it has floor to ceiling glass architecture features that can easily exceed over $10K by themselves, it’s pretty big at 645 Sq Ft for something that can still be moved… Park Models, for example, max out at 400 Sq Ft… There’s a lot of engineering and architecture design that went into it…
While you would sacrifice some things by making the bathroom and kitchen bigger… The space beyond them is exterior compartments for the house mechanicals, etc. that has to go somewhere but preferably not in the living space… Features like the terrace would be cut into and reduced, there would be less privacy, etc. as that’s the purpose of the spaces as they are now… There are always trade offs and other considerations…
Ya I think all the high tech smart systems make this home quite pricey! Mostly good for inspiration haaha.
