For the first time, Escape is offering a Canoe Bay Village Open House Weekend. It’s a two-night stay at the village in Wisconsin, with all meals included, a tour of the few remaining homes, and possibly a tour of the Escape factory. Escape is running it on only two weekends this fall, and it’s offering it only to Tiny House Talk readers and its mailing list. Here’s what’s included, how the fee works, and a closer look at the homes you could see while you’re there.

Two Weekends Only

Escape says the offer is available only on the last weekend of October and the second weekend of November. It isn’t posted online. Escape says it’s only for people on its mailing list, and you reserve by emailing Escape’s sales team.

Canoe Bay Village sits in Chetek, in the lake country of northwestern Wisconsin, and it’s open year-round. Late October and early November are a good time to see it. The leaves are turning or just down, the lakes are quiet, and you get a feel for what the village is like outside the busy summer season.

What the Weekend Includes

The weekend includes two nights of lodging and all meals. Taxes, tips and beverages are extra. Escape says you may even be able to stay in one of the Canoe Bay Village homes, but availability for that is very limited.

During the stay, you’ll tour the few homes left for sale at Canoe Bay Village. That includes the new Glass House, if it’s still available. Escape says you may also be able to tour the Escape factory, where every home in the village is built.

Normally, tours at Canoe Bay Village are by appointment only, and drop-ins aren’t allowed out of respect for the owners and guests. The Open House Weekend is the easiest way to see several homes back to back, compare the sites, and spend real time in the village before deciding anything.

The Homes You Could Tour This Fall

As of mid-October, Canoe Bay Village lists four homes for sale. Every home in the village is different, and so is every site, so it’s worth seeing them in person. Here’s a quick look at each one, with links to our full tours.

Glass House, Lot 27: A 32-Foot Wall of Glass

The Glass House at Lot 27 is the newest home in the village, and Escape has called it possibly its best unit ever. It sits on a small rise in a brand-new, ultra-private section of the village, overlooking a protected wetland. A 32-foot wall of glass runs along the great room, and a large cedar-lined screened porch extends the living space outdoors. Inside, there’s an upgraded kitchen with a dishwasher, a private king suite with a large closet, a custom tiled shower and a stacked washer and dryer. It’s listed at $227,430, with lot rent of $690 a month.

The kitchen and great room share one long, open space, so whoever is cooking still gets the view. It’s a smart layout for a small home, because the glass wall does the work of making the room feel much bigger than it is.

Shoreline Reserve, Lot 26: A Private Spot at the End of Lost Lake

Lot 26 sits at the end of Lost Lake, which makes it one of the most private settings in the village. It has long water and wetland views, dramatic windows, a screened porch, and a private king bedroom with an oversized closet. The upgraded kitchen has quartz countertops, an induction cooktop, a dishwasher and a separate microwave/convection oven, and there’s a dedicated laundry center. Canoe Bay lists it at $209,385, with lot rent of $690 a month.

Inside, the living room has windows on both sides and glass French doors that open onto the porch. In good weather, the porch and living room work as one room.

Shoreline XL, Lot 23: The Gourmet Edition on Lost Lake

The Shoreline at Lot 23 is back on the market. It sits on a quiet end lot with panoramic views of Lost Lake and a dramatic window wall facing the water. Canoe Bay calls it the Gourmet Edition because of its kitchen, which has quartz countertops, a full-size range with a convection oven, a dishwasher and a separate microwave/convection oven. It also has a king bedroom with an oversized closet, a washer and dryer, and premium spray foam insulation. It’s listed at $199,360, with lot rent of $680 a month.

A full-size range is rare in a home this size, and it’s a big deal if you actually like to cook. It’s one of the clearest examples of how the homes in the village are customized one at a time.

Custom Lakefront, Lot 19: Next to a Permanent Nature Preserve

The custom home at Lot 19 is also available again. It sits on an end-cap lot on Lost Lake and backs up to a protected nature preserve that will never be developed. It has an oversized screened porch, floor-to-ceiling glass in the living room, and an enlarged king bedroom that faces the water. Maple trim, oak floors, French doors, an all-electric kitchen, a fireplace and a walk-in tile shower round it out. Canoe Bay lists it at $189,240, with lot rent of $680 a month.

The living room is where the floor-to-ceiling glass really shows. Big windows on a small footprint make the trees part of the room.

Homes That Have Already Found Owners

Several homes we’ve toured at Canoe Bay Village have already sold, some within days of being listed. They’re still worth a look, because they show the range of what Escape builds here, from glass-walled lakefront homes to a quiet cabin in the woods.

The Glass House at Lot 25 sat on a premier rise above Lost Lake with a 30-foot wall of glass. It sold within about a day of our post going live.

The Shoreline Glass House at Lot 21 was the first of the village’s glass-wall designs, with a 30-foot wall of glass facing Lost Lake.

Not every home is on the water. The Woodland cabin at Lot 12 is tucked into the forest, with pine paneling, a glass fireplace and a screened porch facing the trees.

Over on Mallard Lake, the Shorelines at Lot 16 and Lot 17 paired screened porches with corner walls of glass. The Shoreline at Lot 24 on Lost Lake was one of the best-priced lakefront homes the village has offered.

How Ownership Works at Canoe Bay Village

Escape describes ownership at Canoe Bay Village as simple. No realtor, no property taxes, no HOA, and the homes come fully furnished and turnkey. Escape builds every home, and its team is on the property and nearby if something needs attention.

Instead of buying land, you own the home and pay monthly lot rent. Right now, that runs $680 to $690 a month for the available homes, and it includes water, sewer, garbage, grounds maintenance and parking. Power is billed separately, and fiber optic internet is $30 a month. The village is designed for adults of all ages, whether you want a remote-work retreat, a second home, or a simpler next chapter.

The village is open all year, and the homes are built with Wisconsin winters in mind.

Questions to Ask on Your Tour

If you go, a little preparation will help you get the most out of the weekend. A few things worth asking:

  • What does the lot rent cover, and how has it changed over time?
  • What does power typically cost in winter and summer?
  • Can you rent the home out when you’re not using it, and how does that work?
  • What’s covered under Escape’s warranty, and who handles repairs?
  • How private is each site, and what’s planned nearby?
  • Which upgrades are already in the home, and which can still be added?

It’s also worth seeing the homes at different times of day if you can. A lot of what makes these homes special is the light and the view.
