Pineapple Princess: Retired Couple’s Ford Transit Van

This post may contain affiliate links & sponsored content.

JK and Kim live part-time in a Ford Transit van which they purchased second-hand and are actually the third owners of. Despite the van being built out when they first got it, they’ve gone through about 4 layout iterations to get it to the point it is today — and that’s come at the pricetag of nearly $100,000.

But the couple don’t regret the cost, because they love escaping the city and enjoying the outdoors. Most of their travel is spent on weekends away within only an hour and two from their home, but they have taken awesome longer trips as well. While they aren’t planning on going full-time just yet, they love the freedom that weekend tiny living offers them.

VIDEO: City Stress to Van Life – Their DIY Tiny Home

Highlights:

  • Kim met JK when she moved out to California, and at one point he asked her to go camping. They fell in love with being outdoors!
  • Eventually, the call of a more luxurious camping experience encouraged them to look into vans.
  • They found this rig already converted, and are actually the third owner.
  • The van cost $73K when they purchased it, but they’ve put another nearly $30K into epic upgrades.
  • The rig does have a toilet, but they don’t have an indoor shower.
