Scandinavian-Inspired 1963 Airstream Overlander

Ron and Shayna used to live in an RV full-time, so they know what works and what doesn’t when it comes to renovating trailers. The couple now owns a business — Darlin Trailers — where they’re commissioned to renovate all kinds of RVs into beautiful homes for their customers.

Their latest project is this breathtaking 1963 Airstream Overlander, renovated in an airy Scandinavian style with a spacious luxury bathroom. It started out as a truly dilapidated old trailer, but now it looks like a perfect summer oasis. What do you think?

They Renovated This 1963 Airstream Back to Glory

It is a labor of love to restore something so deteriorated to the point of having no use into something to be lived in and enjoyed all over again. It’s truly a renewed life for this 1963 Airstream Overlander. The interior of this renovation took 3 months.

Part of the joy for us when working on these kinds of projects is to bring appreciation to the character and soul that comes with a 60 year old unit and marrying it with how we live today. There is a beauty in preserving the imperfections that come from a road warrior well-used in its early days. There’s soul and history. It leaves your mind wondering about the mystery of the travels and adventures it once had.

Our brief for this commissioned renovation was to create a clean, Scandinavian inspired space that felt like luxury without being precious. A warm, inviting place for guests to experience Airstream life. An oversized, luxury bathroom was a priority, as well as creating space for remote work or dining with friends. The coffee bar, vintage inspired fridge and custom cabinetry make for a beautifully spacious, fully functioning kitchen. Of course, quality sleep matters! We made sure to incorporate a residential queen size bed.

The end result of this custom build is a space where all that’s left to do, is enjoy the moment.
