It’s nice, but how do these small/tiny homes stand up to hurricanes???

STRAPPED DOWN: We live in a hurricane zone with our tall Tiny House. It has a transforming roof that folds up. By the grace of God we went through Hurricane Fiona with only mobile home tie downs that were welded to attach under our trailer and were fine. Many houses in our area were destroyed. Afterwards, my husband was able to pull those up out of the ground about 4inches… so, we put in four bigfoot this year as well. We have the wheels off and our double axle Tiny House is sitting on concrete blocks, the trailer hitch and a code approved gravel pad with rebar enforced pavers (like large cement tiles). NOT STRAPPED DOWN: We survived in the parking lot on the way here (three years ago) in 100km/h winds (the extended roof was folded down). We also drove in 100 km/h winds with it in tow and a Tiny Slide in on the back of our 1990 GMC dually (454gas engine) on a wing and a prayer. TRAVELLING WITH THE THOW WE LEARNED: (1) Make sure your transmission fluid is not leaking… especially onto your exhaust pipe! (2) Make sure your transmission COOLER is replaced if you get a new transmission and it is working properly (doesn’t have burnt transmission fluid in it somewhere!!) (3) Make sure you have breakdown reflective tape and triangles/cones.. we are glad we did!! (4) Make sure your hitch matches the weight of your trailer and is in GOOD condition.

That’s good to know. Many of the traditional trailers, near my sister’s house were totally destroyed by Ian. These tiny homes are just beautiful. Now, if could tolerate the heat. I’d like one of these in Minnesota.
