Floyd is changing lives while living out of his DIY van. A wood turner by trade, Floyd loves making artwork and leaving it around New Zealand to brighten up other’s days. With the artwork, he leaves a note about his charity, Gumboot Friday, which offers free counseling to young people in the country. He’s passionate about mental health and wants to help others struggling like he has.
His van is breathtaking, with oodles of handcrafted elements that make it a true work of art. He has a creative water system mounted on the roof in PVC piping, and he carries a portable lathe on the back of the van so he can make art on the road! Enjoy his inspiring tour below.

His Van Life w/ A High Purpose!
The interior, as you can imagine, has amazing woodworking all throughout.
His couch area turns into a larger bed when he wants to spread out.
He has a lathe with him in the van, but he does have to plug into shore power to use it.

- Floyd is a wood turner who has found his passion — leaving works of art around New Zealand as gifts to bring a smile to people’s faces!
- He does ask for donations to go toward his charity, Gumboot Friday, which offers free counseling for young Kiwis.

- Floyd built out his low-top van with oodles of gorgeous handcrafted wood elements! The carving in the cabinet door over his kitchen space is particularly gorgeous.
- There’s a portable toilet hidden under his bench, as well as a slide-out kitchen that allows him to cook while standing at the door of the van.
