They have a very long countertop! And a bathroom.
Kyle and Stephanie first got into vanlife to escape the city. It was more of a weekend van that they built out on the fly. But that experience equipped them to create this amazing second rig, which they worked on tirelessly for 8 months. Kyle’s previous work in sculpture prepared him to make some of the most gorgeous DIY cabinets we’ve seen!

Kyle did all the custom woodwork himself!
They store all their gear on the back of the van with lockers and racks because they chose to use the “garage” space as a dinette. Their DIY elevator bed system makes getting ready for bedtime easy. In the bathroom, you’ll find a shower and composting toilet, and they have more counterspace than nearly any van we’ve featured. Enjoy the tour!

VIDEO: How We Built Our Dream Van – City to Nomadic Life
Highlights
- Kyle and Stephanie were tired of debt and the pace of city life, so when #vanlife started trending, they wanted to get in on the action!
- Their first build was in a shorter van, was built on the fly, and they never really completed it until they sold it to build out this van.
- When it was time for this one, they purchased a $75K Sprinter van and rented out warehouse space where they could work on it for the next 8 months.
- They have a dinette with a Lagun table in the back of the van, and then a DIY pulley system lowers their bed at night.
- The kitchen has a long countertop with a removable cook top and an Air fryer, which they can easily power with their impressive solar system.
