Their Reclaim-Built Off-Grid Tiny House

Amie and Tom took the whole idea of “use what you’ve got” and turned it into an art form. Tucked away in a quiet patch of Welsh forest, they built this off-grid tiny home almost entirely out of reclaimed and rescued materials — and it’s the same land where they run their forest school for kids. Solar power, rainwater catchment, composting toilet… they really went all-in on making a home that’s gentle on the land yet full of character, warmth, and a little bit of magic.

Let’s step inside and take a look around.

VIDEO: Reclaiming Home — This Off-Grid Welsh Tiny House Is Pure Magic

Highlights:

  • Amie and Tom wanted to settle down and find a house with less of an impact on the land. A tiny home seemed like a somewhat crazy, but amazing option.
  • They also wanted to begin a forest school, so they joined a lot of local Facebook groups and found people who were interested in having the school and tiny house on their property.
  • The couple has an amazing grey water filtration system that uses plants to filter the water, and they catch rainwater and use solar power.
  • So much of the home is reclaimed items that others were throwing away. The furniture is largely made of bed slats, and the flooring was being tossed out by a neighbor. Even the greenhouse is built from an old shower surround!
