Janelle has been working as a naturopath for the past 13 years, and while she still loved her work, she was ready for a new adventure! One thing led to another, and she found herself moving to a rural permaculture farm and setting up a mini homestead and off-grid tiny house on wheels.
In order to maximize her living space, Janelle has a huge covered porch off the front of her home that also wraps around the side. It took her a little while to settle in and find a new community once she moved, but now she can welcome up to 12 guests to eat and hang out on her deck! The inside of the house is beautiful, as well, with natural tongue-and-groove timber walls, a spacious bathroom, and a large kitchen where she can prepare healthy meals.

Really nice and so pretty!
Beautiful, spacious, THOW! I love the warmth of the tongue & groove. And being completely off-grid appeals to me. The ceiling height in the loft is great! Love it.
Wow! That kitchen! I’d love to see the windows extend to the bar/eating counter so when you are having a meal or working on your laptop, you have a nice view. I usually suggest more closed overhead cabinets be installed but since there is some closed storage under the stairs, I would leave the open shelves by the counter. I do think I’d make the ones over the bar deeper so they could be more useful…maybe a few books? Anyway, a kitchen to die for!
Hi Donna,
Thank you for your enthusiastic feedback! We’re glad you love the kitchen in the off-grid tiny home in Queensland. Your suggestion to extend the windows to the bar/eating counter is a great idea – it would certainly enhance the dining and working experience with a lovely view.
Your thoughts on the storage options are also insightful. Balancing open and closed storage is always a challenge, but having deeper shelves over the bar for books or other items sounds like a fantastic addition.
Thanks again for your detailed and thoughtful suggestions. It’s always great to hear from our community members!
Best,
Alex
