Garden Studio on His Parent’s Property in the UK

Cairo is one incredible person! He writes poetry, does photography, teaches nutrition and breathwork, and films and edits movies and commercials. And he sings! And now he does it all from the studio annex he built in his parents’ urban backyard in the UK. The home is a minimalist marvel, and if you’re into clean lines and white interiors, you’re going to adore this space.

All in all, the build came in around $132,000 since they were constructing it in 2020, while material prices were skyrocketing. Still, Cairo sees it as an investment since it’s raised the value of his parent’s property, and someday that will come back to him in an inheritance.

The council required the exterior to fit in aesthetically with the surrounding buildings.

The kitchen is designed with cooking in mind! Cairo loves to get creative in the kitchen.

He has a special studio for his music recording.

Highlights:

  • Cairo was inspired by the tiny house movement, but was struggling to find a place to put a tiny house. That’s when he and his parents decided an annex in their backyard would be a great option.
  • He really values multi-generational living, and loves being close to his aging parents and his sister and her children.
  • Because Cairo can “see” sounds (synesthesia), he wanted a very minimalistic and white interior so he could create without extra colors clouding his process.
  • Cairo also welcomes people into his home for breathwork clinics, photo shoots and recordings. Oh, and he does nutrition too! And film. And editing. He is a creative!
  • His bedroom loft has lower ceilings, but a super-king-sized bed. He has curtains to pull up to block out all the sunlight that pours through his skylights.
