Her Third Truck Camper & Four Years on the Road

Rachel loved backpacking internationally with her sister and eventually moved to Brazil where she fell in love and got married. The relationship ended suddenly, leaving her to build a new life with her dog. For a year, she lived out of her car but eventually upgraded to her current truck.

Her first inexpensive truck camper got destroyed in a storm in Mexico, and her upgrade from that was good for another 3 months, but this Back Country truck camper from OEV was her dream camper — and she’s loving it! It easily pops up with the aid of gas struts and provides her with a full-sized bed, a comfortable workspace for her marketing and content-creating gigs, and a compact kitchen that lets her stay off the grid for a week or two at a time. What do you think?

Highlights:

  • Rachel’s first interest in nomadic life came when she went backpacking with her sister internationally. She loved living simply and seeing amazing things!
  • Eventually, her travels took her to Brazil, where her family was originally from. She ended up falling in love there and getting married, but the marriage ended suddenly about 2 years later.
  • She needed to rebuild a life on her own, so she hopped into her car and started living in it, which she did for about a year before upgrading to a truck and truck camper.
  • Two less-expensive truck campers later, she finally splurged on this $55K pop-up Back Country model from OEV. It easily pops up and down on gas struts and gives her the flexibility she needs.
  • Rachel works as a freelance photographer/videographer and also does marketing and content creation to make ends meet.
