The Sanctuary Minnesota is a quiet tiny house village on 80 acres of woods and trails in Ogilvie, Minnesota, about an hour and a half north of the Twin Cities. Owners Bill and Brenda Campbell left the corporate world to build a simpler way of life, and in 2015 they opened part of their land as a place where people can park their own tiny houses and live among the trees. Its motto: “Come share in our solitude.”

A Village in the Woods
The village is made up of spaces for parking privately owned tiny houses, set among the trees with common areas shared by residents. Residents also have access to some of the amenities in the main house, along with the Lodge, which was completed in 2014.

Each spot feels tucked away in the woods, with plenty of room between neighbors. Temporary parking spaces and tiny houses for rent may also be available outside the main village area, which is a good way to try the lifestyle before you commit.

Four Seasons of Minnesota Nature
The property centers on a pond in front of the green main house, with forest and walking trails all around. In winter, the pond freezes over and the woods fill with snow, so a well-insulated tiny house is a must here.

In the warmer months, the pond and tree line make it easy to see why the Campbells call it a sanctuary.

A Peaceful, Adults-Only Community
To keep the property calm and in balance with nature, The Sanctuary is an adults-only community. Visits from children need advance approval. Indoor cats are welcome, and other pets are considered case by case. Over the years, the Campbells have also hosted tiny house workshops, yoga, breathwork, and personal development events on the property, though events are currently on hold.
