Stefan first bought a van for his band to use for traveling to gigs, but when the band broke up, Stefan was already hooked on van life! He started seeing more people living in vehicles and realized a shuttle bus would give him more of the space he wanted, so he upgraded!
Amazingly, he created the home you see below for just $16K. It has a rooftop deck and a decent solar array, and the interior fits his queen-sized bed and an awesome micro studio, so he can make music wherever he is. Like so many other nomadic folks, he turned his would-be bathroom into a closet for more storage.

Lessons from This Build
- Skip the Bathroom for More Storage: Stefan converted his would-be bathroom into a closet—many nomads find gyms, truck stops, and campgrounds work fine for showers
- Wide Aisles Matter for Mental Health: Keeping the aisle extra-wide prevents that cramped, claustrophobic feeling that can make small space living difficult
- Shuttle Buses Beat Vans for Space: When Stefan realized he needed more room than his van offered, upgrading to a shuttle bus gave him space for a music studio and queen bed
- Budget Builds Can Look Great: At just $16K total, this build proves you don’t need a huge budget to create a functional, attractive mobile home
- Design for Your Profession: As a musician, Stefan prioritized his micro studio—your build should support how you actually make a living
