Freedom on the Road in Their Shuttle Bus Build

This post may contain affiliate links & sponsored content.

Mike first fell in love with vanlife after he built out a ProMaster in Boston and traveled with his brother. Eventually, they sold that rig, and he went back to “normal” life, finding himself working in Florida where he met Sara. She’d never heard of vanlife, but he slowly convinced that getting a shuttle bus and doing a conversion in just 90 days would be a fun adventure.

They completed their conversion on schedule, quit their stable, well-paying jobs, and are now living off savings and what they earn as a part-time DJ and earring-creator. The bus has an incredible layout, with a full bathroom and a bed facing the “wrong” direction to allow for a small hallway and storage.

Highlights:

  • Mike was already a former vanlifer when he met Sara. He had sold that van and returned to “normal life,” but was eager to get back on the road.
  • Sara definitely needed some convincing! They both had well-paying, stable jobs and giving it all up to travel seemed a bit crazy.
  • Ultimately, they purchased a shuttle bus and got started creating a space they loved, complete with a “longways” bed that allows them a small hallway and room for dresser.
  • Sara has a special fold-down desk that houses all her materials for making and selling resin earrings from wildflowers they find on their journey.
  • They love the rooftop deck where they can enjoy various drinks and watch the sun set.

I love your shuttle bus! I’m amazed that you were able to build in 90 days. 🤩 The bed position with dresser is perfect. And I’m jealous of your creative art space! Kudos to the lovely, talented couple. 👍🏼
