The MoonLander Truck Camper by RADICA is an affordable and innovative truck shell built for camping that starts at just $5,500. It’s a hybrid between a traditional truck topper and a camper, giving truck owners an accessible entry point into overlanding and expedition life.
The unique design extends on both sides, allowing you to sleep sideways over the truck bed. This means approximately 80″ of sleeping length in a mid-size truck, and up to 87″ in a full-size truck.

Lessons from This Build
- Sideways Sleeping Solves Short Beds: By extending the shell’s sides, the MoonLander creates sleeping space that exceeds the truck bed length—a clever solution for mid-size trucks
- Weight Matters for Daily Driving: At 225 lbs, the MoonLander drives like a regular topper with minimal fuel economy impact, unlike heavier slide-in campers
- Hard Shells Beat Soft Tops: No canvas or zippers means no leaks, no wear points, better insulation, and faster setup compared to rooftop tents
- Modular Design Enables Dual Use: Removable bed panels let you use your truck for cargo during the week and camping on weekends
- Aluminum Framing Creates DIY Potential: Structural framing throughout the shell lets you mount gear, shelving, and accessories anywhere—inside or outside

Yes, please! While my 4×8 square drop is great for Solo trips, this will make it so much easier, and it will act as his sleeping space when we both travel so I don’t steal the covers, lol.
Good thinking! I’m really loving the MoonLander as an option for anyone who’s got a truck. They’re so cool! And pretty affordable! Wouldn’t mind picking up a used Nissan Frontier 4×4 and pairing it with one of these 🙂
