Family’s Under-$11k Bus-Based Tiny Home

Adam and Chelsea knew each other in high school, but reconnected after some time in the military where they individually traveled the globe. Once married they kept traveling and one of Chelsea’s friends showed her skoolies.

At first, the couple thought it was insane. But after diving down the #Skoolie Instagram rabbit hole they were committed, and just days later purchased the bus! That said, it would be another 2.5 years before they actually moved in.

Amazingly, they only spent $11K on their bus home. Determined to do it on the cheap in case it didn’t work out for them, they found the cheapest way to do everything and the results are amazing! Watch the video tour to learn more.

So cool! I love all the honey toned wood. Your design is great, too! Love the bathroom and especially that little tub. The kitchen’s great and spacious. It’s all so beautiful! Happy Trails!

Do not put yourselves down for taking so long to finish this beautiful build. You have many great ideas for storage and keeping things from moving during the drive. I like your idea of the bathroom tub shower with children. My bus is not that long so my idea was a much shorter bath space. I never got to finish my bus although we did enjoy a few camping trips with it. Homeschooling is a good way to go and your kids will learn so much with the many trips you are making. Happy trails to you!
