Nick and Harri are a 23-year-old British couple who graduated from university in 2020, just in time for the world to close down. They decided vanlife would be the best way to make lemonade out of lemons. After traveling in Europe, they decided to come to the US and build out a bus in just one month!

They enjoyed the bus until their visa ran out, and they recently sold it and moved back to the UK, where they are renovating yet another van! Enjoy the video tour of their great space below.

Very nicely done. And in one month!?

I like the simplicity and light colors used. You have the basic necessities for living comfortably. Adding a heat source for winter and perhaps a cooling system such as a minisplit would be helpful for the temperature extremes. What was the final cost to convert this bus?

Thanks, Joyce! 😊 I agree — they really nailed the light, airy look while keeping it functional. A mini-split would definitely make it more comfortable year-round. I’ll see if I can find the conversion cost from their original post and update the article soon.

They didn’t give a total build cost, but based on their focus on budget choices—Amazon peel-and-stick tiles, inexpensive plywood furniture, and a simple electrical system—it’s clear this was a low-cost DIY build, likely only a few thousand dollars total (not tens of thousands like many skoolies).
