The Merlot at Tiny Digs brings a little wine country to Northeast Portland. Two half wine barrels out front grow grape vines, a wrap-around deck wraps two sides of the house, and inside you’ll find a chandelier made from wine-barrel rings.
At 140 square feet, it’s one of the smallest houses on the lot, but it has no loft. The queen bed is on the main floor under a vaulted ceiling, so there are no ladders to climb.

A Wrap-Around Deck with French Doors
The shed-style roof slopes over a deck that covers two sides of the house, with a bistro table, a loveseat, and string lights. French doors open straight from the deck to the bed, which makes the tiny interior feel connected to the outside.

Deep Blue Walls Under a Vaulted Ceiling
The shed roof creates a vaulted ceiling that rises toward the front windows, finished with decorative pressed tiles. Navy shiplap walls feel cozy rather than dark, because white trim, a white door, and lots of windows keep the room bright.

Live-Edge Shelves and a Wine-Bottle Light
The kitchenette is open shelving on live-edge wood with a mini fridge, kettle, and French press below. A light fixture over the sink is made from recycled wine bottles, a small detail that sells the theme.

A Main-Floor Queen with a Wine-Label Headboard
The bed sits at the back of the house against a cork-textured wall, with a headboard covered in wine labels. A floating live-edge shelf at the bedside holds a bottle and two glasses. If you’d rather skip a loft ladder, this is one of the easiest houses at Tiny Digs to stay in.

What Makes the Merlot Special
- No-loft living: A main-floor bed works for guests who can’t or don’t want to climb.
- Shed roofs buy height: A single-slope roof gives a vaulted interior without complicated framing.
- Dark walls can work: Navy walls with white trim feel cozy, not cramped, as long as there are plenty of windows.
- Recycled decor: Barrel rings and wine bottles become light fixtures, cheap and on-theme.
