Mike Westfield, a woodshop teacher and the craftsman behind Westfield Woodcraft, has built one of the most impressive 7×14 cargo trailer campers we’ve seen. Featured on the NNKH MISC YouTube channel, this all-aluminum build combines high-end woodworking with cutting-edge off-grid technology, resulting in a lightweight yet incredibly functional tiny home on wheels.

Craftsmanship Meets Off-Grid Capability
What sets this build apart is the attention to detail. Mike used live-edge cherry countertops and trim harvested from trees in his own yard, paired with waterproof luxury vinyl plank flooring and soft-close hardware. The 14-foot space includes a full kitchen with a deep sink and induction cooktop, an apartment-sized refrigerator, and a surprisingly spacious bathroom with a full-size shower.
On the technical side, the trailer is fully insulated for year-round comfort and features a mini-split system for heating and AC. The roof is packed with 1,600 watts of solar power (two 800W bifacial residential panels), providing more than enough energy to run the entire unit off-grid indefinitely.
A Masterclass in DIY Conversion
From cutting in the windows to fabricating a custom exterior mount for the mini-split, Mike handled every aspect of the construction over a six-month period. The result is a camper that is not only robust and weather-resistant but feels like a high-end custom home inside. Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your own cargo trailer conversion or just appreciate fine woodworking, this tour is a must-watch.
