Retirement in their Bus Conversion

Doug and Mindy had been bus drivers and subway operators up until retiring. Nothing had been handed to them; they weren’t wealthy: they had no construction experience — but they knew traveling the continent in a converted bus was their dream! So they found a transit bus at auction and began converting it.

The bus has an incredible amount of solar, so Mindy can bake and cook with all electric appliances. To keep costs down, they used mostly reclaimed and recycled materials found on Facebook Marketplace. Doug even got special signs designed to flash in the LED destination sign area, so he can change them depending on his mood! This couple is just too sweet — you’re going to love the tour below.

Hard Workers Make Travel Dreams Come True

They used lots of Facebook Marketplace furniture to finish out the interior.

Mindy sewed special insulated curtains for the whole bus.

Yes, there’s room for her sewing machine — and so much more!
