Annie’s Van Life with an Innovative Kitchen

Annie is an incredible, custom-built van conversion by Safe + Sonder Vans. It has a layout I’ve never seen in a van conversion, with an L-shaped kitchen that divides the bedroom from the rest of the home.

This layout allows for oodles of counter space and a bench seat that can double as a chaise lounge. Plus, the herringbone design on the butcher block counters is dazzling! You’ll love the sneaky trash can storage in the corner of the kitchen as well. Let us know in the comments what you think of the Annie design.

Is This the Best Van Layout Ever?


The exterior is sleek and stealthy!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the sink up against the bed like this!

The grey-green cabinets are beautiful!

An induction cooktop with views out the window.

A bench seat doubles as a chaise.

Deep drawers offer plenty of storage.

What a sneaky spot for the trash can! Brilliant.

The chest freezer pulls out from under the cooktop.

This was our first 3500 ext promaster that we built and geesh—is there a lot of room! Right as we were about to start building Annie with a completely different layout, we were contacted by someone who was ready to claim her as their own. It was truly perfect timing! The layout that you see has been a very popular one since we first built it in Belle and it seems to be highly liked by our following. Annie is a beautiful mix of Belle and Meridian, but stunning in her own way.

    I like the kitchen and all the drawers but not the bench on the opposite side. That’s not my understanding of a living area. I need a table to eat and work. Beside that the vans nowadays aren’t for sleeping comfortable across driving direction when you are 6′ 4″tall.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Michael! 😊 I totally get that — comfort and functionality are key, especially for someone tall. Having a proper table for meals and work definitely makes van life more enjoyable. It’s always a balance between space-saving and daily comfort — great feedback!
