At Patoka Lake Winery in southern Indiana, you can spend the night in a silo, and yes, the rooms are round. The winery’s two-story Silo Suites are attached right to the winery, with a king bed and jacuzzi tub upstairs and a fireplace living room and kitchenette downstairs. Stays include a winery tour and two free tastings, and Patoka Lake is just outside the door.

The winery has been open since June 2016, and these suites are a good example of a growing category of stays built from repurposed agricultural structures. Silos, grain bins, and barns have thick, simple shells that translate well into small, character-filled spaces, and a round footprint forces the kind of smart, built-in layout tiny house fans love.

Round Rooms Attached to the Winery

The Silo Suites sit up the stairs from the winery, so you can taste wine in the afternoon and walk to your room at night. The round walls make the space feel completely different from a typical hotel room, and the two-story layout separates sleeping from relaxing, almost like a tiny house. That vertical split is a classic small-space strategy: stacking the quiet zone above the social zone gives each floor a single job, so a compact footprint never feels cluttered. A balcony outside the suites gives guests a place to unwind.

Upstairs: A King Bed and a Jacuzzi Tub

The open upstairs bedroom has a king bed, a sitting area with chairs, a wardrobe, Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV. The full bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and shower, with the toilet in its own private room. Leaving the bedroom open to the curved walls makes the space feel larger than its footprint, and keeping the tub and shower next to the bed puts the whole sleeping-and-bathing routine on one level.

Downstairs: Fireplace and Kitchenette

The first floor is the living space, with a fireplace, comfortable seating, and a TV. There’s a fully furnished kitchenette with a table and chairs, plus a half bath, so guests don’t have to go upstairs. A fireplace gives the round room a natural focal point, and a full kitchenette with a real dining table means you can enjoy a bottle from the tasting room without leaving the suite.

Finding the Silo Suites at the Winery

The Silo Suites are up the stairs to the right at the winery, while the winery’s three rectangular Winery Suites are up the stairs to the left. Both sit above and beside the tasting room, so the whole stay, from check-in to your first tasting, happens in one building.
