Clark Farm Silos is five grain bins on a Kalispell, Montana farm, each fitted with a loft king, a sleeper sofa, one bathroom, and a fire pit. Five generations of Clarks have been on this land, nestled between Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Flathead Lake.
Five Bins in the Meadow
The long shot is the one that reads first. Five corrugated metal bins stand in a green meadow, peaked roofs, small windows cut in the steel, a gravel drive coming in from the left. Forested mountains sit behind them.
An old farm truck is parked in the tall grass in the foreground, 153 painted on the wood rail. That is the same number as the published address on Creston Hatchery Road.
The Circle, and the Sofa
Inside, the room is a circle. White vertical paneling, wood joists across the ceiling, a grey sofa on a tan rug. A spiral stair with wood treads climbs to the loft. The kitchenette runs along the curve.
The sofa is the sleeper. The bedroom is upstairs. One loft, one sofa, one bath — that is the plan in each bin.
The Kitchenette
The operator calls the kitchenettes fully functional. The still is a dark counter with a sink, a compact fridge underneath, two stools, and open wood shelves on the white wall.
From below the loft, those same shelves sit under the joists. The stair starts at the edge of the frame. The loft is the lid on this room.
The Loft King
Up the stair, the ceiling becomes the cone of the bin — wood planks running to a point. A king bed sits against the curve, under a single wall sconce.
This is the hard part of the stay. The bedroom is a loft. You climb for the king. The sleeper sofa is the bed that stays on the floor.
One Fire Pit Each
From the doorway: two chairs on a concrete patio, a fire pit in the grass, a red barn, and the mountains. Each silo gets one fire pit.
