The Escape One Tiny House: A Popular Towable Model with Full Kitchen, Loft Bedroom, and Bathroom

The Escape One is one of the most popular tiny house models on the market — a compact, towable home with a full kitchen, loft bedroom accessed by a real staircase with handrails, a full bathroom with shower, and a living area that doubles as an office or ground-floor bedroom. This particular unit was a lightly used, pre-owned model that showcases how well these homes hold up and how livable the Escape One layout really is.

Kitchen and Living Area

The main level includes a kitchen with a stainless steel range, tall refrigerator, and counter space, plus a living area beneath the loft with an oversized window that brings the outdoors in. The space works equally well as a sitting area, home office, or ground-floor sleeping space depending on your needs.

They need to do a better job on their kitchens. Never enough counter space in their homes.

Agreed! I was totally aghast at the TOTAL LACK of kitchen counter space. Four inches (max, it would appear from these pictures, and those not even contiguous!) counter space does NOT a kitchen make! Totally unacceptable from any person desirous of living here… even a coffee cup needs a place to sit upon. The zero counter space makes this unit a total no-go for me…

Maybe… just maybe there is a piece of wood which fits over, and into, the sink. That aside, maybe that was what the client wanted. And as James D is apt to say, everything is trade offs. What fits one person doesn’t work for others.

I did consider the possibility of the ‘cutting board over the sink’ option before commenting, but immediately realized I could not realistically prepare food without access to water, rinsing lettuce, washing hands, etc., and understood zero counter space was not feasible – at least for me. Minimally okay if one relies 100% on takeout, but even cereal in a bowl has nowhere to perch awaiting a milk pour in this ‘kitchen’. I stand by my earlier comment. This one’s a hard “pass” for me. I’ve avidly studied literally hundreds of kitchens in tiny’s, and this one takes the cake, if you’ll forgive the bad pun, for being – by far – the most deficient.

Most deficient?… Well the ones with kitchenettes or even no kitchen would challenge that claim but it is definitely limited.

However, there’s sink accessories that not only provide you more prep space but still let you use the sink at the same time. Solid block sink covers aren’t the only options…

The stove top also has a cover. So that is also space you can use for prep when not cooking.

Add you can add fold up table extension to the side that you can use when not using the stairs and you can always add a small rolling table to use as a kitchen island or fold up table by the window… or you can a fold down table from the stair area to provide a long table that provides a countertop space that extends from the wall to past the sink for 4-6 feet of usable prep space… Among other ways to address the issue…

Some things just rely on what you will do with the space and there are always trade offs but also always options…

Well it doesn’t give you the price for one thing. I would put in a under the counter frig so I would have more counter space.

Is it just my computer or is that a really eloooongated toilet and the sink for washing one full arm?

It’s the photo, not really that elongated…
