Murph and his dog spend their days moving around with the seasons seeking good weather (nothing too extreme) in Courage the Cowardly Bus, their short bus conversion.
His bus home has a fixed bed, compact kitchenette, and even a bathroom Murph now thinks is bigger than necessary! You’ll love the photo tour and Murphy’s story, which he shares in his own words below.

Short Bus Turned Home For Chasing Good Weather

My house is a converted short bus. Less than 100 sq ft but complete with a queen size bed, stove and oven, composting toilet, and a gravity fed sink.

Currently running with a total of 550w of solar panels and a 200ah lithium battery which powers outlets, USB ports, a pull out fridge/freezer, lighting, and a diesel heater.

I’ve lived in the bus for just over a year, along with a 115 lb German Shepherd named Thorn.

I migrate seasonally spending my summers in the forests of the Rocky Mountains in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado.

My winter is spent primarily in Arizona where I boondock in Long Term Visitor areas like Quartzsite.

With rising costs of living and inflation I simply couldn’t make ends meet while working 50-60 hours a week.

After 30 years managing in the restaurant industry I found myself still treading water and living paycheck to paycheck.

So I sold everything I owned, paid off all of my debts, bought a partially completed school bus and hit the road.

It’s been a work in progress over the last year and I’m constantly changing things that seemed like a great idea at the time.

It’s been a non-stop adventure and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Life is simpler in a 95 square foot house because it has to be.

But simpler isn’t boring because a tiny house on wheels can take you places you’ve never imagined.

My next project will be to reduce my large bathroom and put in bigger seating 😊
