Black Crane Treehouse for Artist Residency

This post contains affiliate links.

The Black Crane Treehouse in Bremerton, Washington, is the creative genius of Jodi and Shawn, an incredible artsy couple who work as a potter and contractor, respectively. They wanted to build a spot on their property where creatives could stay during an art residency at Rockland Residency. They worked alongside the “powers that be” to create a fully legal tiny house suspended between two 100-year-old trees.

When artists aren’t using it, it’s available to anyone on Airbnb. You can sit on the wrap-around porch and soak in views of the Olympic mountains. The studio-style interior fits a King-sized bed, which sits beneath a large round window. The home also includes a kitchenette and a luxury wet bath. Enjoy the tour below!

Treehouse Supported by Two 100-Year-Old Trees

Shawn thinks the tree circumference will someday be the size of this round window, when it’s time to take down the house.

The King-sized bed has a skylight looking up at the tree branches.

The kitchen has some basic appliances, like a fridge and convection oven.

Highlights:

  • Jodi is a potter and Shawn is a contractor, and they came together to build this amazing treehouse for artists to use as a getaway to reconnect with their creativity!
  • The house is also available from time to time as a rental on Airbnb.
  • Two 100-year-old trees and a central frame support the treehouse. Shawn hated to add the artificial support, but it was required by the building department.
  • The table area can seat up to 12 people between the benches and chairs.
  • In the bathroom, the shower head produces a nearly 5-foot-radius of hot water!
