Wow! Wait until you watch the renovation slideshow at the end of this post. The owners of the Mountain Time Chalet took it from an outdated 1970s vacation home and turned it into a stunning modern and inviting retreat in Big Bear, California.

Kelly, Waylon, and their infant daughter really went all out doing this DIY renovation. What you’ll find now is a perfect getaway, complete with two bedrooms, a gorgeous kitchen, and a great open-concept gathering area where you can make memories!

It’s a rental on Airbnb, so be sure to book your stay.

  1. It’s a nice reno for sure, however I am puzzled by the lack of storage space and closets in the bedrooms, or the entry way ? As I assume this will be used year-round, there should be a place to put boots, overcoats, skates, scarves, parkas and what-not… Storage for the bathroom as well, for towels and all… I see the storage bins under the bed and the two little sets of nooks in the upper bedroom but where does one hang their stuff ?

I’m just nitpicking I know but still, I am puzzled…

    Thanks !

    1. Hi Mario — this place was designed specifically as a vacation home, so my thought is they didn’t focus much on long-term storage options. That said, it might be nice to have a “mud room” location for those visitors who choose to be out in the winter elements.

  2. Looks SOOO “Big Bear”. Which I love. I backpacked thru BB. It’s bringing Back sweet memories

  3. Is it for sale? Stunning! I’d live upstairs and my 83 yo mom downstairs. She could live out her days in this beautiful home!
