This is the story of how this family of four is living simply in their 700 sq. ft. apartment in Copenhagen.
So how do two adults and two children fit their entire lives in less than 700 sq. ft.? This family did it by completely rebuilding their apartment with the help of a local carpenter.
They intentionally decided to downsize so they can live in the city after experiencing living outside of Copenhagen beforehand. They sold many of their belongings, downsized some more, and started to rebuild the apartment. Thanks to their hard work and thoughtful downsizing process, today they get to live a wonderful simple life in the heart of the city. Please enjoy and re-share below. Thank you!

Check out the link, there’s a floor plan. Makes this way easier to visualize.
I’ve wanted a loft bed for a long time, but I’m too tall and my ceilings aren’t high enough!
Great use of space, love that the parents thought of the necessities of the 2 growing girls need for their own space. Well thought out design and enviable lifestyle choice. Bravo! Kris
So often people assume what they need and then fit their life around it. They figured out that two hours a day lost to commuting — and the expense and bother — was too much. Every space in their home is maximized for how they live.
I followed the link, this is sweet! I love it. My husband has relatives in Copenhagen (his mother grew up there). Whenever I lament about my small home, I just remember the homes there.
(With the exception of one family friend that has a former factory, 3 stories, each more than 700 sf. That’s an anomaly!)
great use of space, but there is no shower or bathtub. how do they get clean?
Sandy: I wasn’t 100% certain from the video, so I checked the website link to look at the floor plan. Their bath is a wet room. The shower handle was on the wall behind Morten (the guy) and the door (which swings/swung in behind him).
All: VERY impressed with their decision making process and design choices. Obviously took some time to fit their domicile to their preferred lifestyle instead of the other way around as is more common.
When I see how well this family of 4 fit nicely into a 700 sq. ft.
space, it so encourages me that I can achieve the same in less.
They’ve done an great job — enviable!!!
