Technical schools are such a great option for students and can give them amazing hands-on skills to take into the workplace! Milton Hershey School has their students building a tiny home for a local campground, and maybe someday these kids can build their own tiny homes.
In the video below you’ll hear from some of the students, and we hope to follow up once they’re done so you can all see the finished product.

we need to see more videos on tiny home building!!!!!!!
THIS IS SUCH A GOOD PROJECT FOR SCHOOLS TO DO. FOR THE HOMELESS OR VETS! WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE. I WISH MORE SCHOOLS WOULD PICK UP THE IDEA.
This is awesome!!! More schools should do this! I worked for the school district where I live and I might have to go back and talk to them about this!!!
Do it! It’s such a fun project for kids.
They did this at least once in a high school near me. Such a great advance beyond the napkin holders and footstools they make in beginning shop class. The students loved it, and our friend, who was a volunteer carpentry teacher on the project, said he was impressed with the enthusiasm and abilities of the teens. He loved being part of it. (I have to follow up, see if they’re still doing it. The plan was to sell the first tiny house, and use that money to fund the program the following year.)
My husband actually teaches at a tech school and they are doing this this year as well! I’ll show you all once it’s complete. It’s such an amazing project the kids are really engaged. I am such a believer in quality tech education.
