The Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max Studio is a camping version of Xiaomi’s large SkyNomad N90 Max SUV, with a factory roof that lifts into a second sleeping floor. ZITONG of China On The Ground walks through it in a quick video tour, from the pop-up bedroom to a downstairs bed with its own projector screen.

An SUV That Grows a Second Floor
With the roof down, the dark green SkyNomad looks like a big, boxy SUV. Raise it, and a tan canvas wedge opens at the rear with mesh windows on the sides. The roof lifts with one button in a phone app, and the host times it at about 26 seconds. According to the channel, the roof is meant to be raised only while parked off public roads.
That’s the appeal of a pop-top: you drive a normal-height vehicle, then get standing room and a bed once you stop for the night.
The Upstairs Bed
You climb up through the open sunroof to a mattress in the pop-up. New Atlas, citing Xiaomi, lists the upstairs bed at 195 by 99 cm (about 77 by 39 inches), and on-screen text in the video gives a 200 kg maximum load. With the roof raised, there’s up to 2.3 meters of vertical space from the cabin floor, and the host can sit cross-legged up there with headroom to spare.

A Second Bed Downstairs
Downstairs, the rear seats fold flat with the cargo floor, and quilted pads turn the space from the front seats to the tailgate into another full bed, listed at 187 by 124 cm (about 74 by 49 inches). New Atlas says the vehicle sleeps four. Having two separate sleeping levels means a family or two couples could share the vehicle without anyone sleeping on the front seats.

Small Comforts Built In
The side panels hold lit storage cubbies, a fold-out vanity mirror with a ring light, and power outlets, including a 12V socket. The floor has a wood-grain finish, and the host points out underfloor heating. There’s a swivel tray table in the back, and from the phone app the host lowers a motorized projector screen behind the front seats to stream a movie from bed.

What Makes the SkyNomad Special
- Two separate beds in an SUV-size footprint, one upstairs and one downstairs
- An app-controlled pop-up roof that raises in under half a minute
- Underfloor heating and power outlets make it usable in cooler weather
- A projector screen turns the rear bed into a tiny home theater

What It Costs
Xiaomi launched the SkyNomad N90 Max lineup in China in September 2026. The Studio version starts at ¥299,900 (about US$44,700), which is ¥30,000 more than the standard N90 Max at ¥269,900, according to New Atlas and CarNewsChina (checked October 24, 2026). A projector with a 30-inch screen is listed as an option.
Before You Get Excited
- China only, for now: it’s sold on the Chinese mainland. Xiaomi hasn’t announced sales in the U.S. or Europe.
- No bathroom or kitchen: it’s a sleeping and lounging space, so you’d still rely on campgrounds or outdoor gear for cooking and showers.
- Parked use only: the roof is meant to go up only when you’re parked off public roads.
