At such a small size you’d be surprised as to what fits inside.

Small houses like this one create opportunities for people while helping the environment.

The 144 Square Foot Cube House

Small spaces can help you get out of debt or start a new career because they help you save money.

Since the average one bedroom apartment is still somewhere around 800 square feet, we have to get creative to truly enjoy the benefits of living simply.

That’s what James Stuart is doing with his Twelve3 prefab tiny house company.

The company is based in Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

These little dwellings have a variety of uses, just like other tiny houses.

Cube House Features

What can you fit in a 144 square foot cube house?

  • Living area
  • Kitchenette
  • Bedroom
  • Bathroom

Some designs even include a washing machine.

Windows are double pane and you can choose what type of foundation you want to use.

Sustainable Housing

Thanks to the home’s ultra small design it is very environmentally friendly.

All lighting installed are either LED or micro bulbs for efficiency.

Plus majority of the lumber used is FSC certified.

Energy Usage

An average one bedroom apartment will still produce about 5 tons of CO2 every year on average.

A cube about the size of this one will produce less than 1 ton per year. And there’s still enough room for guests to sleep.

It’s just a little more like camping when that happens.

These cube houses are built using normal materials. It’s stick built with 2 x 4 lumber.

Wow. I really, really like this house. I love the bed on the first floor, tucked under the stairs—-it looks so cozy! It’s just tall enough to sit up comfortably. Absolutely perfect. And did you notice the steps were actually shelves?!

Does anyone know if the Twelve Cube company still exists or at the least do they offer the build plans for interested builders?

So, did you ever discover if they are still around. I’d be interested in the plans, if not a kit…
