This is the Tokyo Switch apartment with areas that morph into offices by using large sliding walls.

The walls turn areas of the home into multi-functional spaces. It’s designed by architect Yuko Shibata and the concept is called Switch.

The morphing walls give the occupants a library, office space, extra shelves, privacy within rooms, entertainment space, and more. I think you’ll find this to be quite amazing!

This saves the homeowner thousands of dollars in office space, commuting, and more. Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you!

  1. Fantastic options for a live/work space. Really well thought out, right down to using colour to differentiate spaces. Good engineering too.

  2. Hi,
First off I want to say that I appreciate what you’ve done here. Pulling out the walls to utilize the space differently and having slots so the same tables can be used in both rooms… In the first room the hanging lights confused me, as it seemed one had to fold up the lights on the ceiling to pull out the wall. I am a tiny homer who just insulated the walls of my 10×12 barn. this design might give me a way to build a bookshelf/staircase to my loft that I can hide away when I’m not using it. Oooohh eeee.
