  1. do these designers actually live in these tiny houses? I think NOT as you walk in the front door and bam you hit the LRwhatever….who sits and looks at front door as their view? This is one of the worst design of floor plans I have ever seen. That kitchen is so unworkable for anyone…..and that bathroom, no words to describle it.

    1. Actually, as many sofas are placed in front of the longest wall in the room and is one of the most common areas to place a sofa, it can often result in the positioning resulting in a door being at the side or in front of the sofa. Something that becomes even more common in a smaller space as there becomes fewer alternative places to put it. So it’s more common than you may think…

Besides, most tiny homes are custom built and their owners are basically the designers. So yes, often the designers do live in these homes!

It’s just something to understand that designs ultimately have to be practical, especially when every square inch matters, and not just blindly follow any random preference, with no other consideration, as there are always trade offs. Like facing the kitchen or bathroom instead would be something some would consider less desirable and would leave less walking space in front of the sofa, making it less practical. Among other considerations, like giving a sense of separation of spaces from the other sections of the home, etc.

While, you’re ignoring the side windows and use of the space as a day bed for lounging, reading books, etc. Along with options like adding a screen door to leave the door open during pleasant days. Not everyone simply stares forward and does nothing else when using a sofa or couch, and people can have other priorities of where to spend their time besides the living room…

Btw, there’s a pull down projection screen above the door and the projector on the shelf above the sofa, which means the door doesn’t prevent watching a movie, etc. when desired…

    2. Oh, if you read the listing, it notes the previous owner is the one who built it and they lived in it for about 3 years. So this is an example of the designer living in their own creation…
