The Tradition is one of ESCAPE’s earlier models, and this 2017 example makes the case for buying pre-owned. At 20 feet long and 8.5 feet wide it’s genuinely compact, yet it fits a king-size loft, a second storage loft, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a full-size shower, and a living area with a fold-flat couch.
It was well specified when new and had held up: RVIA certified, with a mini-split for heating and cooling, a tankless water heater, a propane oven and stove, a large 30-inch modern kitchen sink, washer/dryer hookups, LED lighting throughout, USB outlets, and two television mounts. At around 9,500 lbs and 13.5 ft tall it sits comfortably within road-legal limits, which makes it far easier to move than the wide-body models that need permits.
Editor’s note: this pre-owned Tradition was listed at $50,000 OBO out of Meadow Vista, California in early 2023 and has sold. Current listings are linked below.

Why Pre-Owned Is Often the Smart Buy
- Depreciation does the work for you. A well-kept six-year-old build sells for a fraction of new while offering the same certified construction.
- Staying road-legal keeps your options open. At 8.5 ft wide and 13.5 ft tall this moves without permits or escorts — unlike wide-body models.
- Twenty feet still fits a king loft. Length limits living space far more than sleeping space; short builds can be surprisingly comfortable upstairs.
- Check for hookups, not just appliances. Washer/dryer hookups mean you can add laundry later without opening walls.
- RVIA certification matters on resale. It is what many parks, lenders, and insurers require, and it cannot be added retroactively.
