Forestville Cabin is a hand-restored 1964 redwood cabin on an acre of redwood trees in Forestville, in West Sonoma County, California, about 60 miles north of San Francisco. It has two bedrooms, skylights in every room, floor-to-ceiling windows looking into the forest, a big stone fireplace, and two redwood decks. It’s a quiet, mid-century hideaway in the heart of Russian River country.

A 1964 Cabin Among the Redwoods

The cabin’s low, horizontal lines and redwood siding are classic 1960s design, and the restoration kept that character intact. It sits back from the road under tall redwoods, with gravel paths, patios, and garden spaces around it.

A pair of bright red glass doors marks the entry, a cheerful splash of color against the warm wood.

Wood Ceilings, Big Windows, and a Stone Fireplace

Inside, warm wood ceilings with exposed beams run over the open living area, and tall windows bring the forest right into the room. The centerpiece is an oversized stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove, the kind of spot you’ll want to curl up next to on a cool evening.

The kitchen is fully stocked, with stainless appliances, a colorful tiled backsplash, and plenty of counter space for cooking a real meal. Just off it, a long dining table sits beside glass doors that open toward the deck.

Two Bedrooms with Skylights

Both bedrooms have skylights right over the beds, so you can fall asleep looking up at the redwoods. The main bedroom has a California king bed and glass doors to the outdoors.

The second bedroom doubles as an office and has a queen bed, plus its own skylight. An almost full-size pull-out sofa in the living room adds room for one more guest.

Two Redwood Decks and a Garden

Outside, two redwood decks give you plenty of space to relax among the trees, whether that’s with a morning coffee in an Adirondack chair or a long dinner outdoors.

Raised garden beds and shady seating areas fill out the acre, making it easy to spend a whole day outside without leaving the property.
