El Capitan Canyon calls the Safari Cabin Suite its most luxurious cabin. It sits on a private hilltop called Safari Village, with panoramic views of the ocean, the mountains, and the canyon below. The two-bedroom cabin has a gas fireplace, a full kitchen, a bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers, and a big deck with a gas grill. It’s part of a 350-acre nature resort on the Santa Barbara coast in California, which has been offering cabins and yurts since 2001.

Glamping on the Santa Barbara Coast
El Capitan Canyon sits near the coast among old groves of oak and sycamore trees along seasonal El Capitan Creek. Most guests stay in cedar cabins or yurts, each with its own picnic table and a fire pit with a grill. The Safari Cabin is one of two signature suites at the top of the range, with its own private parking space and a more secluded setting.

A Living Room With a Fireplace
The main living area has a sofa, leather armchairs, a ceiling fan, and a gas fireplace. French doors and floor-to-ceiling windows open the room to the views, and it flows straight into the kitchen.

Two Bedrooms
The main bedroom has a king bed, vaulted ceilings, its own gas fireplace, and closet space. The second bedroom has a full bed in a raised loft area upstairs, with big windows that give you a bird’s-eye view of the trees.

A Full Kitchen and Big Deck
Unlike the kitchenettes in the regular cabins, the Safari Cabin has a full kitchen with a gas stove and oven, a microwave, a full-size refrigerator, a pantry, and cookware. Outside, the spacious deck has a large gas grill, a prep area, and a patio table looking down into the canyon, plus the usual picnic table and fire pit.

Indoor and Outdoor Showers
The roomy bathroom has dual sinks and a large indoor shower, plus access to an outdoor shower, a fun treat in the mild coastal weather.
