I have been designing and building tiny houses over twenty years. I shipped 2,000 buildings last year. It was very easy to jump on the band wagon and begin to refer to my little cottages as tiny homes. Taking the plunge like so many others have I have found that the bestselling THOW is a frame on a trailer.

Jamaica Cottage Shop basic 8×16 THOW is set on a double axel 10K GVW bumper tow trailer. It is 102” wide and 13’ high making it over the road legal. A very simple basic box ready for your interior finishes.

The tiny house on Wheels includes a small porch and simple door and windows. Adding a loft, staircase and interior partitions is very easy. The blank canvas comes built and ready to pick up at the factory.

They are built the same way barns in Vermont have been built for centuries with native rough sawn lumber. The frame is hemlock post and beam and the siding and trim is a kiln dried eastern white pine. All the lumber is full dimensional and has a rough fuzzy texture. The roofing material is standard 29 gauge corrugated painted steel in an array of colors. Options exist for several different wood sidings as well as roofing material options.

Once the shell is placed you have the choice to begin to set the building up the way that makes sense for your comfort level. Since the building walls are exposed it is ready to accept your mechanicals electrical, plumbing, HVAC, communication lines and even solar power. If the building will be used as a travel trailer it is time to install waste and fresh water holding tanks. This little rugged shell is ready for your attention to detail as time and money allows. Existing clients have reporting using these tiny shells as Airbnb nightly rentals, as a temporary living situation while a main house is built, as a guest room, as a home office, even a mobile traveling boutique selling the wares of artists.
