Living in a Compact 200 ft² Tiny House with Stunning Design

Zach & Leala from Big Hearts Tiny Vegans designed this unique and beautiful 24-foot long tiny house and built it from paycheque to paycheque, as well as with gifts of time and materials from family and friends.

It cost them approximately $40,000 CAD ($31,175 USD) to build the 200-sq.-ft. house, including the cost of appliances.

They Built The Tiny House Over Time On A Limited Budget

The 200-square foot tiny home on wheels is sitting on a 4-foot tall platform because it’s currently parked in a floodplain. The deck gives them loads of extra outdoor living space and it’s covered with a large sloping metal overhang. The house is plugged onto the grid for electricity and water, and they also have propane for their stove and water heater.

The couple’s dream tiny house has a living room with a real couch and loads of storage right at the entrance.  To the right, there’s a bathroom with a clawfoot tub and a combo washer-dryer, and above that is an open-concept lounge loft.

To the left of the living room, they designed an efficient u-shaped kitchen with Unique appliances and a drop-leaf table on wheels for dining.  Their staircase doubles as a pantry and also makes the private sleeping loft accessible for their two dogs.

It’s a really pretty house. It’s one of those houses that is immediately appealing and inviting, and one says, “Oh, I want that one!”. Great job, guys! Best wishes.

Oh my! What a warm and cozy and absolutely lovely little home. I think if I were to build one I would do a lot of copying of theirs.

This is beautiful! I love the dining room table! Was that custom made or store bought?
