Loxley Forest is a family-built treehouse retreat on 42 acres of hardwood cove forest near Dahlonega, Georgia, just over an hour from Atlanta. Its first treehouse, The Original, hangs about 60 feet up in the canopy and is reached by a 100-foot rope bridge. Inside, a queen bed is framed by panoramic windows, and out on the private sky deck there’s even a wood-fired pizza oven.

Arriving by Rope Bridge

The adventure starts before you even reach the door. A 100-foot rope bridge carries you through the treetops to the suspended cabin, so you’re already in the canopy by the time you step inside.

A Home in the Sky

The Original sleeps 4, with a queen bed framed by panoramic windows, warm wood, and a chandelier. It’s heated for the colder months, and the windows open to the forest so you can hear the birds and the water rushing below. There’s a fully equipped kitchenette for coffee and snacks, but no TV on purpose.

The full bathroom has luxury finishes, and every morning the hosts deliver “TreeMail” with coffee and seasonal treats. The structure itself is a tetrahedron frame of steel sandwiched between wood, hung from living oaks, with canvas roofs instead of timber to keep the load on the trees light.

Pizza, Movies, and a Fire Pit

The private sky deck is where guests tend to spend most of their time. It has a wood-fired oven with fresh dough for pizza nights, plus a pop-up projector for movies under the canopy. Down on the forest floor, there’s a fire pit and 42 acres of forest to explore.
