Meet Erika: When her twin sister and long-time roommate bought a house with her boyfriend, Erika had a choice to make — either she could keep working in the job she hated to afford an apartment alone, or she could move back home and build her very own tiny space.
As you can guess, Erika chose to go tiny, and spent 2 years and 3 months creating her completely unique tiny house on wheels, spending a total of $35,000. She admits now that the $9k she spent on the trailer was far too much, but she was completely new to tiny homes and didn’t know better at the time. Despite spending more than she could have, she is now completely debt-free due to her decision to go tiny!
She documents her tiny life on her blog here, and on Instagram. Right now she’s parked on her parent’s lake-side land in Upstate New York — and what a spot it is!

Want that feeling of being “in the trees” without the hassle of multiple flights of stairs or ladders? This Snake House in Portugal, designed by Father-Son team, Tiago & Lus, uses a long gradual ramp to take you from ground level into the “snake head” main living area.
Inside the compact home you’ll find a kitchentte, split bathroom with a toilet room and shower room, and a main living space that includes a couch bed and a queen bed with dazzling forest views! It’s a really cool concept for a “tree house” that doesn’t actually harm any trees.
You can watch the great video tour by FLORB to learn more about the design concept and construction at the end of the post, or book your stay at the Snake House here.

“One of the best things in life is to find out that you are perfectly happy without the things you thought you needed the most!”
Susan says that’s her favorite saying, and it couldn’t be more relevant to tiny house living! As a retiree (“who isn’t getting any younger”), Susan chose to go tiny even though she still owns her 800 square foot home (which she lived in for 50 years!) outright. Owning that land allows her to classify her tiny as an RV, and keeps her from paying a mortgage or lot rent. She uses a room in the “big” house for her sewing and her treadmill, and for guests when family comes to town. Otherwise, she enjoys the minimalism of her 180 square foot abode with her adorable dog, Moxie.
She was kind enough to reach out to us and answer some questions about her tiny life — be sure to read the Q&A after touring her lovely home!

Courtney and James (@drivingdeedee) didn’t know anything about construction or outfitting a van when they purchased their awesome orange Sprinter, but that didn’t stop them from spending 18 months creating an awesome home on wheels so they could travel Europe.
Besides the lovely and unusual exterior color, the inside features a wet bath, a kitchen with a mini fridge and stowable cooktop, and a dinette that turns into their queen-sized bed. The interior looks just as autumnal as the outside, and you can tell lots of sweat and love went into this build.
Watch the great video from FLORB below, where you’ll hear all about the mistakes they made and how they’re enjoying life on the road.
