This traditional 70s A-Frame cottage in Huntsville, Ontario got a modern makeover and has become a stylish woodland getaway. While there’s plenty of that old school A-frame charm inside, the bright while walls, modern appliances, and new furniture make it a luxury couple’s getaway.

Off the front of the cottage is a large deck, complete with outdoor seating and a grill. Inside the lower floor has an open-concept feel with a sectional sofa, dining table, and newly-renovated kitchen. The bathroom has an old-fashioned clawfoot tub with a shower adaption, and upstairs the Master bed looks out of gorgeous windows to the swaying treetops.

The Swifts were paying $2,000/month for their condo in San Diego, but when Heather and Michael decided they wanted to have more time with their son and be able to home school, Heather decided to quit her $60K/year job. This meant something had to give!

Heather’s parents lived outside of the city, near her brother, and offered to allow them to park on their property. So the couple sold just about everything, bought a new 5th wheel RV, and moved! Now they have far more family time (including time with cousins!), are paying down debt quickly, and enjoying minimalism.

Their RV features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious living area/kitchen. While they didn’t do a full reno on the place, they’ve truly made the place their home. We had the pleasure of interviewing the couple, which you can read below the photo tour! Follow their tiny life on Instagram here.

Tegan is a 30-year-old Advanced Nurse Practitioner, but she always had a passion for fashion/textiles. That comes out so clearly in her Scottish Cottage renovation! She and her partner moved in a few years ago, and since they spent all their savings on the rural cottage itself, they’ve been slowly DIY-ing the entire renovation.

Confessions: All white interiors tend to stress me out. I miss the cozy warmth of wood and deep hues. But somehow Tegan managed to make this cottage so home-y and inviting with a light color palette. It belongs in the finest of home/cottage magazines! Enjoy the photo tour and make sure to follow her work on Instagram.

Jocelyn knew the cost of college housing is expensive, and after going down the campervan rabbit hole, she wanted to jump on the bandwagon. Although most parents of 20-year-olds might discourage a nomadic future, her dad supported her endeavor and the two of them converted a commercial van into her home on wheels!

He admitted the build-out would have gone faster (and better) had he just done the work himself (since he works in construction), but Jocelyn wanted to be a part of the entire process, and he agreed to learn to work with her. The end result is a home soaked in Jocelyn’s personality and a father’s love!

Amanda took up van life to find peace. When she first bought the Sprinter, it was completely empty and she put down a rug, tucked in some furniture, and put her mattress on the floor.

But she had a friend in Montana (@dirt_bag_rigs on Instagram) who helped her take the stark interior and make it a beachy haven, with plenty of driftwood and open shelving. Now her van is truly a home, featuring her most prized possessions and holding all her river surfing gear and her skateboards.

Be sure to check out the video tour/interview that Allison of Tiny Home Tours did with Amanda at the end of the post, and follow Amanda on Instagram.

Meet Jodie: She spent time in the Peace Corps before moving back home to Alaska. She had to find a home on a budget and turned a shed on her parent’s property into her 10’x18′ tiny home, spending only $3,000 on the build-out! She braved the icy Alaskan weather to use the bathroom in her nearby outhouse and was able to tap into the electricity on the property to run her convection oven/stove, mini-fridge, and other small electronics. Obviously, not everyone has access to land like this, but it’s awesome that she’s created her own private space! Watch the video tour and interview from Tiny Home Tours/YouTube after the photos, and enjoy learning more about Jodie’s tiny life.

Meet Frye — he and his dog have been living in his Volkswagen Westfalia now for four years. He gutted the van and turned the interior into a rustic cabin, complete with unfinished wood floors and a cast iron wood stove.

Frye has mainly used his home on wheels to explore the woods of the West Coast, getting closer to nature and learning to become his own handy-man. He added a cool wooden roof extension to give about 10 feet of head space in the van, which really opens up the space.

Watch the awesome video tour and interview with Frye done by FLORB at the end of the post, and follow Frye on Instagram here.

Remember the architect behind the Pinecone Treehouse we showed you recently? Well he has a whole new endeavor! A franchise of his innovative O2 Treewalkers Treehouses.

These are unique treehouse tents feature a modular wooden base with a canvas roof. The idea behind the project is to give homeowners a reasonably-priced way to get into the Airbnb rental business, all with the Treewalkers brand behind them to help promote their spaces.

When you climb up into the treehouse, you’ll find a round space where you can include a bed, bench seating, and storage. The treehouses start at $35,000, and if you’d like to get on the list you can learn more here. Thanks James D. for sharing!

Why stay in a typical cabin when you could have a unique stay in the Pachinko Cabin? This bespoke off-grid wonder sits on 20 acres of land and has no running water or electricity, but provides an experience unlike any other.

There’s a hand-crank Victrola, a wood-burning stove for heating and cooking, and 5-10 gallons of water for drinking and washing. An outhouse is nearby, and during the warmer months, there’s a shower house too. Climb the Lapeyre stairs into the bedroom, which features standing-height ceilings and a full-sized bed.
