Cozy tiny house in the woods with string lights, perfect for small space living.

Tiny homes don’t have to be expensive, and they don’t have to be temporary! That’s what this awesome family of four has shown — they’ve been living in their $25K DIY tiny home for the past 7 years, and their once-little kids are now preteens.

They plan to put one more year into the THOW before building a 650-square-foot “forever home” — still remarkably tiny by modern US standards! Michelle shares more about their story below the photo tour of their amazing space. Don’t miss it!

Compact treehouse nestled among trees in the Smokey Mountains.

This amazing father and son duo created an absolute masterpiece of a vacation property in Sevierville, Tennessee which they call “Skywalk Treehouse.” The two self-proclaimed “children at heart” made sure to include everything their past selves — and current selves — would want in a treehouse! That means there’s a whole building dedicated to entertainment and tons of luxury upgrades. Plus it’s located right in the foot of the Smokey Mountains!

While nowhere near “tiny,” this unique setup includes four separate treehouses connected by bridges a la “Swiss Family Robinson.” This incredible compound sleeps 16 and includes two full kitchens, multiple bathrooms, and a deck with a huge seven-person hot tub. Enjoy the incredible tour below!

This is Dome Sweet Dome, a renovated 1970s geodesic dome home nestled in Bend, Oregon’s First-on-the-Hill neighborhood. The dome features a cleverly inverted floor plan with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor, while the entire second story serves as an open-concept common space with living room, kitchen, and dining area. A covered mudroom welcomes you inside, and the dome’s position offers easy access to Phil’s Trail System and the Deschutes River Trail.

A Renovated 1970s Geodesic Dome

The exterior retains its original 1970s geodesic dome silhouette, a geometric form that naturally sheds snow and resists wind loads. The renovation preserved the dome’s distinctive character while modernizing the systems and finishes inside.

Modern geodesic dome tiny house built in a forest setting with a small deck and outdoor shelter.

Tawnie and Wayne are nomads at heart who travel the country in their RV. But they wanted a home base and because of their financial savvy (they were both finance majors), they were able to purchase 4 acres of property in North Carolina and outfit it with a 420 sq. ft. geodesic dome home and adjacent bathhouse.

Now they have a spot to come “home” to, but when they’re off exploring, it’s available as an Airbnb. The dome is set up as half magical bedroom (with a view!) and half living room and kitchen. The bathroom is just a few steps away and has all the luxuries you want!

Cyclist standing inside a tiny van converted into a living space, highlighting minimalist lifestyle.

Aaron had enjoyed sleeping in his car as a teenager when hanging out with friends, but it took many years and the events of 2020 to finally convince him to try van life. He and his wife were able to go remote with work, so they bought a Ram ProMaster.

The van was beautifully converted, complete with a fixed bed, a kitchen with an oven, and a hidden toilet. He designed the entire build around fitting bikes in the garage, so they can enjoy cycling in all the places they end up.

Versatile Ram Promaster camper van with cabin-style design, copper shower, rooftop deck, and queen b.

Karol and Austin are the bubbly and awesome couple who built this beautiful Ram Promaster. On the cusp of buying a home, they chose to jump into van life instead—and created one of the coziest cabin-like conversions we’ve seen.

Karol had wanted a closet and bathroom, and they managed to fit both beautifully. They have a nice projector setup for watching TV and a lovely kitchen with butcher block countertops and a deep sink. The warm wood interior gives the van a true cabin feel that’s hard to find in most conversions.
