Slide Away Bed: Convertible Sofa-to-Bed Furniture for Tiny Houses

The Slide Away Bed is a convertible furniture piece that functions as a sofa during the day and pulls out into a full bed at night. Unlike traditional murphy beds that swing down from the wall, this design slides horizontally, making it ideal for spaces with lower ceilings or limited wall height.

Lessons from Convertible Furniture

  • Horizontal Beats Vertical in Low Spaces: Slide-out beds work where ceiling height limits wall-mounted murphy beds
  • Dual-Function Furniture Saves Square Footage: One piece serving as both sofa and bed frees floor space for other uses
  • Quality Mattresses Matter: Memory foam ensures the bed function is as comfortable as the sofa function
  • Simple Mechanisms Are Reliable: The slide design has fewer moving parts than complex fold-out systems
  • Custom Fabrics Match Any Interior: Coordinating upholstery helps convertible furniture blend with existing decor

Gasp!!!! Sorry, just back from their website and I will avoid that section hereafter. I will study what I can see of it’s workings though, I think I can build a reasonable variant when I can lay hands on some Materials.

You’re right David this is one expensive piece. I’ve noticed though that most Murphy type furniture systems are. Would be great to see someone turn this into a DIY project.

Its a great idea especial that the mattress has an overall cover.
For occaisionally use it seems to me suitable
However, for a daily use I would prefer a murphy bed with the already make bed on. It makes life so much easier.
There are murphy bed around with a sofa in front of it so that you can combine sitting area with bed space, too.

I was interested in the slide-away bed but I can’t get on the site.
