Spindrift Homes is a family-owned tiny house builder based in Bend, Oregon. Husband-and-wife team Bijan and Sarah built their first home on California’s Redwood Coast, named it The Westhaven, and have since grown it into a full lineup of custom tiny houses on wheels. What sets them apart is the focus on sustainability: they build with nontoxic, eco-friendly materials, design their homes to run off-grid, and plant 104 trees for every house they sell through a partnership with Ecologi. They’re NOAH certified and made the Tiny House Authority International Top Builders list. We’ll be touring each of their models in the posts ahead, so consider this your introduction to the builder behind them.

Who Is Behind Spindrift Homes
Spindrift Homes started the way a lot of the best tiny house stories do: with a couple who wanted a different kind of life. Bijan was drawn to the freedom of exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and living humbly, all while still owning a home he could be proud of. He and Sarah built their first tiny house, The Westhaven, on the Redwood Coast, followed it with The Joshua Tree, and turned that momentum into a full-fledged company. Today they run the operation together out of Bend, Oregon, a high-desert town that sits at the crossroads of mountains, rivers, and trailheads, fitting for a builder whose whole philosophy is about getting outside and living simply.

A Sustainable Approach to Tiny Living
What sets Spindrift apart is how seriously it takes the “sustainable” part of its tagline. The homes are built with nontoxic, eco-friendly materials, which matters more than most people realize in a space this small, where indoor air quality and off-gassing can have an outsized effect on daily comfort. Each home is designed to be off-grid capable, giving owners the option to step away from utility hookups entirely. And the company backs up its environmental talk with action, planting 104 trees per home built through Ecologi. For buyers who want their footprint to shrink along with their square footage, that combination of healthy materials and reforestation is a real differentiator.

The Spindrift Lineup
Spindrift offers a range of model homes, each with its own personality, plus a couple of standalone sauna builds for anyone looking to add a little spa life to their property. We will be featuring each of these models in its own in-depth post, so consider this your roadmap to the collection. The current lineup includes:
- The Sonoma – a spacious, window-filled design with a cozy, light-soaked feel
- The Joshua Tree – the rustic-modern second build that helped start the company
- The Olympic – a 30-foot model with storage hidden in every surface
- The Ochoco – an extra-wide, 10-foot model with a peninsula kitchen
- The Shasta – a cabin-style model with a main-floor bedroom and a wood stove
- The Black Butte – the design-forward flagship with a raised platform living room
- The Westhaven – the original build that started it all
On the sauna side, Spindrift builds The Silverado and The River West, both designed to bring a restorative, off-grid wellness experience right to your backyard.

What Makes Spindrift Worth Watching
Plenty of companies will sell you a tiny house, but Spindrift is the rare builder that pairs genuine craftsmanship with a clear set of values. The decade-plus of hands-on construction experience shows up in the details, the sustainability commitments are concrete rather than marketing fluff, and the family-owned scale means buyers work directly with the people actually building their home. NOAH certification and recognition from Tiny House Authority International give the operation the credibility to match the heart. If you are weighing builders for your own tiny home journey, this is one to keep on your shortlist.
