The Joshua Tree: A Rustic-Modern Tiny House That Sleeps Four by Spindrift Homes

The Joshua Tree was the second tiny house Spindrift Homes ever built, and it helped launch the Bend, Oregon company. It is a 24-foot home on a double-axle trailer that pairs weathered, rustic wood with a bright, modern interior, and it is built to sleep two comfortably full time while still making room for guests. The trick is two separate sleeping areas: a loft tucked over the bathroom and a downstairs living room that converts into a bed wider and longer than a queen. It is offered fully furnished for $105,000. Here is the full tour.

Rustic Wood Meets a Bright, Modern Interior

The contrast is the whole idea here. Outside, the Joshua Tree wears dark, weathered pine siding that looks like it has always belonged in the high desert. Inside, white shiplap walls, a vaulted ceiling, and butcher block counters keep everything light and airy, with reclaimed barn wood and teal subway tile adding warmth and personality. A galley layout runs the kitchen down both walls, which keeps the floor clear and the sight lines long.

A Kitchen Made for Cooking

For a home this size, the kitchen is genuinely well-equipped. Butcher block counters line both sides for real prep space, a four-burner propane cooktop handles the cooking, and there is a full-size refrigerator, a deep sink, and open reclaimed-wood shelving for everyday dishes. A barn-style sliding door just past the fridge closes off the bathroom without eating up floor space the way a swing door would.

Laundry and a Stained-Glass Surprise

One of the nicest things about the Joshua Tree is how much it fits without feeling crammed. A full-size LG washer-dryer tucks neatly under the counter, a length of reclaimed wood doubles as a hanging closet rod, and a colorful stained-glass window over the back door throws a little splash of art into an otherwise simple, functional space.

A Fold-Down Dining Nook

Across from the kitchen, a compact wood table with two stools sits beneath a big picture window, the kind of spot that works for morning coffee or a laptop. It is sized for two and keeps the footprint small without giving up a proper place to eat.

A Living Room That Becomes a Bedroom

At the far end of the home, two cushioned benches face each other beneath wraparound windows, with deep storage drawers built into the bases. It is a cozy living room by day, but the real party trick is how it converts into a bed that is wider and longer than a queen, turning the Joshua Tree from a one-bedroom into a true sleeps-four layout.

The Loft Bedroom

The main bedroom is a loft positioned over the bathroom and reached by a removable ladder, so it can be tucked out of the way when you want the floor space back. The loft holds a double bed under the sloped ceiling, with a triangular skylight to bring in light and stars and a built-in bookshelf at the head of the bed.

The Bathroom

Behind the barn door, the bathroom punches above its size. There is a farmhouse-style sink on a vanity with a backlit mirror and teal tile backsplash, recessed shelving built into the wall, and a composting toilet that keeps the home off-grid friendly.

The shower is the showstopper: a large stall tiled in white subway tile with dark grout, topped by a custom copper rainfall shower head and exposed copper plumbing that turns the fixtures themselves into a design feature.

What Makes the Joshua Tree Special

  • It sleeps four without feeling like a bunkhouse. A loft plus a convertible living room covers guests while keeping the daytime space open.
  • The rustic-modern mix. Weathered wood outside and crisp white shiplap inside give it character that a plain build does not have.
  • Smart, space-saving choices. A barn-style bathroom door, storage benches, a removable loft ladder, and an under-counter washer-dryer all claw back room.
  • Little custom touches. The copper shower head and the stained-glass window show the hand-built, one-off nature of a Spindrift home.
  • Sustainability is built in. Reclaimed materials, a composting toilet, off-grid capability, and 104 trees planted per home are standard Spindrift.
