This is a 60 sq. ft. micro cabin built by Barbara Diaz of Cottage Camper.

Since we last featured Barbara’s camper, she has added some upgrades to it. She raised the roof so that it’s now 6 feet tall, painted the roof white to reflect the Florida sun, added more windows, installed custom made curtains and cushions, and installed solar exterior lights. Pretty nice, isn’t it?

This Victorian Prepper Tiny House is a guest post by Stew MacInnes of Maximus Extreme Tiny Homes

This is another Maximus Extreme Tiny Home, affectionately called the Victorian Prepper. I designed this home for a lady that is an avid “Doomsday Prepper,” who was looking to have a home that not only had off grid capability but had a very distinct Victorian design element.

You’ll note from the photos that the front incorporates a turret design, where the kitchen is located and above the kitchen is the master loft. The loft is accessed by a staircase that has ample storage for food, household items, clothing and firearms!

The interior has bead-board walls and a finish grade plywood wainscot that is accented with decorative trim. There is another smaller loft that is specifically designated for dry food storage, the space is large enough to accommodate a year and a half worth of dry goods! That space also is home for one of two “mini on-demand” hot water heaters that serve this tiny house, the other is located below the stainless steel apron kitchen sink.

There is a large bathroom that is equipped with a composting toilet, fan, concrete floors (same product as the kitchen counters), storage and a tiled shower stall (with glass door). Throughout the home the ceilings are covered with faux tin ceiling tiles. The kitchen is large and features tons of storage, a microwave oven, refrigerator and concrete counters.

This is the second tiny house to come out of the Harvard Innovation Lab.  They call it The Lorraine and it’s 160 sq. ft.

Built and designed to be a writer’s retreat that’s located in Southern New Hampshire near Lake Sunapee.

When you go inside you’ll find that it functions like a studio with an open living area, kitchenette, and large built-in desk that spans from the kitchen to bedroom. There is also a cozy queen size bed and bathroom with shower and composting toilet.

Please enjoy, learn more and re-share below. Thank you!

This is a guest post from Gretchen Chingris about the grand opening event for 305 Microlofts at Commoncove.

Below is the press release about the newest micro lofts to come to the Chelsea, MA area.

Boston-area developer Kevin Saba, co-founder of Commoncove, one of the Boston area’s first co-work spaces, today announced the Grand Opening of 305 Microlofts at Commoncove, a new residential development overlooking the Admiral’s Hill Marina on the Chelsea waterfront, a stone’s throw from the Mystic Brewery, featuring nine (9) new construction microloft apartments for sale with prices starting at $200,000. The Grand Opening will begin with a public open house and barbecue event on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and will continue throughout the weekend with open house events Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM both days.

305 Microlofts at Commoncove is located right above the Commoncove co-work space which launched in 2013 at Chelsea’s Admiral’s Hill Marina to offer mobile knowledge workers affordable shared workspace. Each of the nine (9) units features flexible-space living area and high end, though sensible finishes, including a full kitchen with custom-sized stainless 4-burner range with oven, dishwasher, and Fisher & Paykel refridgerator, granite countertops, wide plank floors, and built-ins. Each apartment has air conditioning, outdoor deck space and parking.

“305 Microlofts at Commoncove is an idea whose time has come — an exciting next step in the development of a larger concept built around the sharing economy,” Saba said. “Combining co-work space and high quality modest-sized living space at one location not only enhances the value of each, it introduces something new and unique that many people want and need.”

William Woodbridge is an Australian university design student who decided to protest high rent and absurd fines by building a floating teepee on a lake and living in it!

Protest? Why? Well… The student was living on campus at the school when another organization took over the accommodations and increased rent by 30 to 50%, according to this article. In addition, William accidentally set off an alarm while cooking and was fined an additional $380. With not enough money to pay, this situation left him homeless. After living out of his car for a while, he decided to creatively take matters into his own hands. And this is the result.
