Jonathan and Curtis’ tiny house journey didn’t start off smoothly. They had a box truck all ready to go for their two-year travel adventure only for it to burn up two weeks before they set off.
So they got an RV and tried that out for a few months before deciding they wanted a bus — and wanted to prove you could power it 100% with just solar energy (and include all the bells & whistles, like dual mini-splits, an ice-maker, and a washer/dryer combo unit).
They even have a roof-top deck, AND a fold-down back deck for their dogs. Check it out in the video below.

There’s a lot of ideas in this that I like! The blue ceiling is one of them. I like the wood accents and the storage designs, too. The exterior color says warmth and sunshine. It’s a very cool home. Great job!
This conversion is great, they truly have all the comforts of a home – I’m wondering if they did the work themselves or had it done – what was the approx cost of this conversion – great job guys!
They did the renovation, I believe Curtis did most of the work, and all in it cost them $50,000 hard cost, no labor, including the whole build from buying the bus to the solar setup.
It’s good to see that Gilligan and the Skipper finally made it off that island. Still looking good after all these years.
The Schoolie looks even better!
